Car number 1399 is thought to be the only remaining Type 13 ‘Brescia’ to have a continuous competition history, this started with the 1922 R.A.C TT race held on the Isle of Man where as a factory entry it was driven to 4th place by P de Vizcaya. The car still retains the original engine from this period plus original short chassis and running gear.

1399 then went on to compete at Brooklands in 1923 and ‘24 before being exported to Australia where the next chapter of its competition history commenced.

It was raced extensively by Hope Bartlett and A J Roycroft for several years including events at Maroubra banked Speedway and Muriwai beach. Until the outbreak of WW2 the car was still being raced continuously and still capable of clocking over 100 mph around Maroubra.

Exhaustive research has unearthed much history and many photographs from the 1920’s of this car in competition. We have just completed an extensive and highly detailed restoration, led by this research and the principal that the car should be returned to exacting, original specification.

La voiture 1399 est probablement le Brescia qui a le plus couru à l'époque et sûrement un des rares qui peut raconter une aussi longue carrière en course. Livré par l'usine en 1922, cette Type 13 débuta avec la Course du TT en 1922 où il se classa 4e conduit par P. De Vizcaya. #1399 sera ensuite engagé plusieurs fois sur le circuit de Brooklands en 1923 et 1924, avant d'être exporté en Australie pour le début d'un nouveau chapitre de son histoire.

Hope Bartlett, A J Roycroft et Claude Edwards engageront #1399 sur le circuit de Maroubra mais aussi sur la plage de Muriwai notamment. Les recherches historiques de la voiture nous indiquent qu'elle était toujours sur la piste jusqu'à l'approche de la 2e guerre mondiale et toujours capable d'atteindre des vitesses élevées ! (Entre 80 et 100 mph à Maroubra!).

Des recherches approfondies ont permis de retracer son parcours historique et de découvrir de nombreuses photographies des années 20. Cette exploration du passé a également été à la base de la restauration très poussée.
